As a Latin saying goes, „Nomen est omen“. Unika stands for unique things. Unique pieces of art can be admired in the UNIKA in Ortisei/St.Ulrich. The gallery was founded in 1994 as a union of artists and craftsmen from Val Gardena/Gröden. |
Wood carvers, “Fassmaler” craftsmen that paint wooden sculptures), gilders and masters of decoration show their skills in this hall. All the works exhibited exist only once. At present the group consists of 60 members, half of which take part in the sculpture fair of the UNIKA every year. The life-sized figures, which present scenes taken from every-day life, are especially impressive.

In the Congress House of Ortisei/St.Ulrich ART52 offers a complete overview of wood carving and wood sculpting in a permanent exhibition. 52 artists have united and give an impressive insight into their work.Some of the highly precious works are exhibited in show cases, some are placed freely in the room. |
The pieces of art represent an interesting cross-section of the various possibilities and artistic forms of wood sculpting. |
